Chapter 401: Chapter 183: Emperor’s Carriage_3
The White Tiger Esteemed Emissary, bearing tremendous pressure, flicked a light from the Storage Ring in his hand, and a black wooden box inlaid with jewels appeared in his palm.
As soon as the wooden box appeared, the pressure on everyone immediately vanished, and the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary, holding the box aloft, declared loudly:
“This object is the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree bestowed upon the Mortal Emperor. Seeing this talisman edict is as if the Lord himself has arrived. Why haven’t you Netherworld demon gods knelt down to greet it promptly?”
This object could be called the Great Xia Dynasty’s foremost treasure of the Netherworld, and a few months prior, envoys from Ying Island had come to the Great Han seeking a page from the talisman edict to suppress the night parade of a hundred ghosts.
In the end, it was this rationale that led to the dismissal of the former Taichang, which underscored the preciousness of the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree. It was also the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary and his companions’ greatest reliance in coming to Fengdu City.
The White Tiger Esteemed Emissary had thought that by presenting the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree, the Ghost Generals guarding the city wall would immediately kneel to admit their fault and let them enter, but contrary to the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary’s expectations, the Evil Slaughter Ghost General just coldly snorted and said:
“The Mount Tai Lord’s Decree? The Lord of Mount Tai is such an eminent figure, how could you impostors of Great Xia Dynasty’s emissaries possess his decree? Perhaps that wooden box once held the talisman edict, and you are merely employing it to deceive in the Lord’s name.”
“If the talisman edict is real, why not present it for our examination to discern its authenticity?”
The Vermilion Bird Envoy beside him placed a hand on the wooden box and said coldly:
“Don’t listen to them; there’s something suspicious about the attitude of these Ghost Generals guarding the city!”
The Vermilion Bird Envoy’s words served as a reminder, and even someone as foolish as the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary immediately realized that the attitude of the Evil Slaughter Ghost General in front of them was undoubtedly problematic.
The Evil Slaughter Ghost General was pressuring them step by step, his likely true purpose being to compel them to open the wooden box themselves, thereby revealing the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree inside.
The Mount Tai Lord’s Decree was no ordinary treasure; it had been nurtured by the auspicious qi and incense offerings of the Great Xia Dynasty for thousands of years. Concealed within the wooden box to prevent the dispersal of auspicious qi and ensure it was abundant at the critical moment when the decree was needed.
In their original plan, the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree was to be used only in the presence of the 10 Netherworld Commanders, to ensure it could intimidate the entire Netherworld.
Now, prematurely opening the box would lead to the dissipation of some of the auspicious qi, and it was uncertain if they could wield the full power of the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree afterwards.
While his mind calmed down, after pondering for a moment the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary still spoke up:
“The wooden box must be opened! The Ghost Generals manning the walls have made their stance clear – without opening the box, they will definitely not let us enter the city, leaving no room for manoeuvre on our part.
Rest assured, the Mount Tai Lord’s Decree, after enjoying three thousand years of auspicious qi, will still have enough force to dominate the Netherworld even if some of it dissipates.”
Having spoken thusly, the Vermilion Bird Envoy could say no more and silently withdrew his hand.
Above the city walls, the Evil Slaughter Ghost General watched as the White Tiger Esteemed Emissary slowly reached toward the wooden box, his eyes flashing with a sinister light.
Just then, the tightly shut gates of Fengdu City burst open, and a powerful ghost energy surged out like a tidal wave, sweeping in all directions from within the city.
The joy on the Evil Slaughter Ghost General’s face atop the city walls instantly turned to raging anger as he roared:
“Who dares to open the gates of Fengdu City without my command?”
“I will make sure you’re thrown into the 18 Levels of Hell to endure every torment!”
The Evil Slaughter Ghost General leaped down from the formidable city walls, his massive form causing tremors, and his dark green eyes filled with malice turned towards the ghost-ridden city gates.
As the black ghost energy slowly dispersed, a colossal figure emerged from the thickening mists.
Clad in dark black armor, a local deity with the head of a bull and the body of a man appeared before everyone.
The Evil Slaughter Ghost General, who was raging just a moment ago, became instantly stupefied, his anger turning into a quivering fear.
The Evil Slaughter Ghost General wished to retreat, but remembering the one behind him, he still mustered the courage to speak in a low voice:
“Lord Bull Head, opening the gates of Fengdu City at this time is against the rules!”
Netherworld Commander Bull Head did not speak but strode forward; his body, which was the head of a bull and the body of a man, began to transform into a massive black ox.
As the ox’s hooves stomped on the ground, cracks spread in all directions, followed by the rumbling sounds of the earth shaking.
The Evil Slaughter Ghost General gasped in shock, then immediately looked behind Netherworld Commander Bull Head only to see that behind him, one of the 10 Netherworld Commanders, was dragging along an enormous chariot resembling a palace.
The chariot was of black and gold, adorned with images of billions of supernatural beings from the kingdom of Hell.
Upon the canopy of the chariot at five positions, the marks of the 5 Regions Ghost Emperor appeared, and the rumbling giant wheels were as though the Six Paths of Reincarnation continuously in motion within the kingdom of Hell itself, the entire chariot seeming like a miniaturized version of the kingdom of Hell.
The Ghost Generals on the city walls trembled in fear and knelt, unable to resist saying:
“The Emperor’s Carriage, it’s the Emperor’s Carriage!”
The huge black ox stepped forward, moving towards the outside of Fengdu City.
As the wheels of the Emperor’s Carriage turned, the entirety of the Netherworld trembled with it.
