Chapter 651: 651, Shi Huan encounters danger: Is she going to die?
After hanging up the phone, Shi Huan went to take a shower.
Twenty minutes later, she emerged in her pajamas, just as her mobile phone rang again.
Picking up the phone, she saw who it was.
Lu Chenyu?
Pursing her brows, Shi Huan answered, “Attorney Lu?”
“Guiyi Mansion.” Lu Chenyu was succinct.
As it had always been, whenever Chu Xiuhuang got drunk in the middle of the night, he would call Shi Huan to ask her to pick Chu Xiuhuang up and drive him home.
But now…
Shi Huan said awkwardly, “I’m sorry, Attorney Lu, I’ve already resigned.”
“…” Lu Chenyu paused before calmly inquiring, “Why?”
“I’m going to study abroad.” Shi Huan simplistically responded.
Lu Chenyu’s tone remained composed, “Have you two broken up?”
“Huh?” Shi Huan didn’t understand.
Broke up? What on earth was he talking about?
“It’s nothing.” After saying this, Lu Chenyu hung up the phone.
Shi Huan: “…”
As for the other side.
Inside the Fire Emperor box at Guiyi Mansion club.
Lu Chenyu looked at his close friend, who was completely drunk on the couch, his thick eyebrows furrowing.
Secretary Shi actually resigned?
This meant…
That there would be no reliable designated driver when drunk in the future?
**
The next afternoon.
Shi Huan drove to a skyscraper located near the sixth ring of Nancheng.
After getting out of the car, she followed Tu Youran’s address and took the elevator straight to the twentieth floor.
When she stepped out of the elevator, she saw that the floor seemed deserted.
The office directly opposite her was a consulting firm, and although it was opened, there didn’t seem to be anyone around since it was the weekend.
Shi Huan glanced at it, then turned the corner, walking down the long corridor to Room 2019 at the very end.
The door was tightly closed.
There were also no signs indicating it was a training establishment.
Shi Huan was a bit confused but decided to knock on the door anyway.
There was no response.
She mailed the doorknob and found, to her surprise, that the door was actually unlocked.
Inside was a complete mess, with old computers and folders covering the desks, and dust everywhere; it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages.
Hastily, Shi Huan closed the door and dialed Tu Youran’s number on her phone.
“I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
She rechecked the WeChat message that Tu Youran had sent last night.
The address was definitely here.
Just as she was getting suspicious, a loud bang suddenly emanated from behind her.
“Where’s the guy? Come out now!”
Turning around, Shi Huan saw several menacing men, sticks in hand, marching towards her.
“Are you the boss of this company?” One of the leading men asked.
Seeing their hostile faces, Shi Huan quickly denied, “No, I’m looking for someone.”
“Looking for someone? Who are you looking for?”
Cautious, Shi Huan turned to leave.
But before she could get far, her arm was suddenly seized in a harsh grip, and her phone along with her handbag were snatched away.
One of them smashed her phone on the ground before stomping on it repeatedly, seemingly determined to destroy it entirely.
Meanwhile, the others opened her handbag and dumped out all her belongings.
When they took all the money from her wallet and then produced her bank cards, Shi Huan’s heart skipped a beat.
Screwed! She was being robbed, wasn’t she?
Her arm was held firmly, and Shi Huan could only tell herself to stay calm, despite her uncontrollable trembling.
She had led a life for over twenty years and, frankly, this was the first time she had encountered such a situation.
“Boss, this woman is pretty rich; she’s got lots of cards.” A henchman held up a credit card for the leading man to inspect.
In a hurry, Shi Huan blurted out, “I’ll give you all my money, just let me go, please.”
Looking greedily at the cards, the leader asked, “What’s the pin?”
“123457.”
“You said it so readily; are you trying to trick us?”
“No, I’m telling you the truth,” replied Shi Huan.
These men were all physically robust, solidly muscular. Shi Huan just wanted to pay off their threats with money.
“How do we know you’re not lying to us? How about this, even though you’re not so good-looking, you’re still a woman. We brothers haven’t visited any working ladies in a long time. Why don’t you take care of us today? If we’re satisfied, we’ll let you go, how about that?”
Shi Huan started shouting at the top of her lungs, “Help, help… mmm.”
Her mouth was muffled immediately, the odour of sweat assaulting her nostrils.
Shi Huan tried to struggle, but was countered with several slaps across the face.
She could feel her cheeks swelling up rapidly, the metallic taste of blood filling her mouth, and spots of light appearing before her eyes.
“Scream, keep screaming! Weren’t you all high and mighty just now, why aren’t you screaming anymore!” the thugs cursed, relentlessly assaulting her face.
After a series of slaps, they pushed her to the ground, removing her black-framed glasses.
“Big brother, this girl is quite pretty!”
At these words, the rest of the men promptly crowded around her.
The ringleader lewdly laughed.
“Who would have thought that behind the glasses she is a beauty, look at her figure, and her skin is quite fair, hahaha.”
The thug’s eyes gleamed, “Big brother, her skin is so good. Why don’t you let the brothers have some fun?”
Staring intently at Shi Huan’s face, the big leader said.
Though beaten up and looking dishevelled, her facial features were exquisitely proportioned, her frame slender, yet well-endowed where it mattered. Even in her simple, loose jeans and black suit, she looked extremely attractive.
He immediately said, “Fine, you guys take her inside the room. One after another.”
“Thank you, big brother!” the thug excitedly dragged Shi Huan towards the room.
Shi Huan furrowed her eyebrows, her fear almost jumping out of her heart.
She told herself to be calm. There was an open office door near the elevator. Someone might be working late.
If she could alert someone, she could be saved.
She lowered her head and feigned a cry of pain.
The thug, thinking that she was in agony, let down his guard and loosened his grip on her.
As they reached the door, he reached out to push it open. Shi Huan seized the opportunity and took off running.
“You little…”
The thug froze for a moment before reacting and chasing after her.
The other men hastily followed suit.
Shi Huan dared not look back, sprinting for her life down the long corridor. Sweat was breaking out all over her body, her heart pounding in her chest.
In her entire life, she swore she had never run this fast!
But just as she reached the office door, she felt her arm being pulled back from behind.
With one jerk, Shi Huan was thrown onto the hard ceramic tiled floor.
Ignoring the pain, she yelled out immediately, “Help! Help…”
“You little bitch, can’t believe you could run so fast!”
The leader of the group rushed over, tearing at the coat she wore over her suit, “Was planning to take you inside, but if you won’t play along, we’ll just do it here. No one’s around this floor anyway.”
As her coat was ripped open, the collar of her shirt underneath torn, Shi Huan was overcome with nausea.
Years ago…
This was exactly how it had happened…
Was she going to relive that nightmarish experience again?
Shi Huan’s mind went blank as she opened her mouth and bit down hard.
“Agh!”
The man screamed in agony.
Shi Huan tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth. People were trying to pull her off him, but she wouldn’t let go, as if bewitched.
Because she knew, if she let go now, she was done for.
“Damn it! Grab her off me, ah! It hurts! Ah! Ah!” The man screamed repeatedly.
Finally, one of the thugs grabbed a stick and brought it down hard onto Shi Huan’s head.
With a loud thud, Shi Huan felt a blunt pain, so intense she almost lost consciousness, her mouth involuntarily letting go.
The man got up, clutching his ear. When he removed his hand, it was covered in blood.
“Damn it!” He snatched the stick, “You insolent woman, refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a penalty, eh?”
Finishing his sentence, he swung the stick straight at Shi Huan.
The bang echoed as the stick hit her shoulder, numbing her entire arm with pain.
“Does it hurt? Ah! You little bitch, I’ll teach you a lesson, I’ll beat you to death!”
The leader shouted and swung the stick again.
This time, it landed on Shi Huan’s stomach. Her face turned pale, she couldn’t help but cry out, “Help! Help! Help…”
“Hahaha, scream all you want, nobody is coming to save you!” The man finished his sentence and swung the stick down again.
Shi Huan collapsed in weakness, her hoarse voice screaming for help but to no avail. All she could feel was the endless pain, one blow after another, relentless and brutal.
It hurt!
It hurt so bad!
Not a single part of her body was spared the pain!
Was she going to die?
